Life as a prison is one of the themes because Tommy feels his life is a prison because he is married with a woman he does not like and works in a job he did not choose, but he is obliged to. The other theme of this story is Hope For a Change, Tommy wants to make the girl reflect about stealing, that is bad and it can bring you problems, as Tommy. He does not want the girl to suffer all he suffered. "He was pretty sure he could stop her, sometime after, he would explained her why it was good she had stopped". He also wants his own life to change and be better.
